What We Do

Vision: To coordinate rural transportation issues, conversations, and research in the transportation community.

Mission: To promote rural transportation research needs and opportunities within the entire TRB committee structure and other TRB activities to improve the wellbeing of rural communities and transportation users.

How We Can Help Committees:

• Provide Research Need Statement (RNS) reviews through our Rural State Liaison Group

• Provide presentations on the NCHRP Research Report 988: Rural Transportation Issues Research Roadmap

• Co-sponsor your committee’s call for papers, lectern sessions, workshops, poster sessions, or TRB sponsored conferences

• Provide support in reviewing rural focused TRB papers submitted to your committee

• Assist in writing or reviewing rural focused TR News and Transportation Research Record articles 

• Assist in marketing your rural resources and events through our website, distribution list, and meetings
